Things to Do

Twin Lights State Historic Site | 2 Light House Road, Highlands

If you’ve ever driven south on 36 you’ve probably noticed something that looks like a castle on a hill to your right, that’s Twin Lights State Historic Site. Built in 1746, the site was originally used as a warning beacon to notify New York City of French warships on the horizon and has worn many hats in its long tenure and expansion in the Highlands. You can visit the National Landmark to see the lighthouse, climb the two towers, visit the museum, and take in the panoramic views of New York City.
